The Donegal Northern Regional board launched their 2016 programme of games on Tuesday night in the Arena 7, Letterkenny.
The launch was chaired by Eddie Harkin, the board’s chairman, and was attended by a good number of the region’s club; Donegal PRO Ed Byrne and by Donegal Games Development manager, Mick Murphy.
Those present also heard a presentation from the county PRO on the board’s new link on the official Donegal GAA website www.donegalgaa.ie and from Keelan Devenney, the developer of a new social network App for clubs. .
Eddie Harkin paid tribute to the work done by all the officials, coaches, mentors and managers in the 24 clubs under the board’s jurisdiction.
“We have a lot of dedicated coaches and people doing a lot of good work and giving up of their time to work with the players,” Eddie Harkin told the gathering.
He also told the players present that they were the most important people and he urged clubs to make sure the games get the maximum coverage in the media by providing the media with reports and photographs.
“We have our programme of games in place and we are looking forward to a good football season ahead.”
The chairman also thanked Arena 7, who are the board’s main sponsor for the season, and had come on board this year for the first time.
Keelan Devenney, from the Na Rossa club, gave a brief presentation on a special app which he has developed and which caters for all aspects of club activities.
The App covers such areas as club fixtures and results as well as carrying club news and information on club activities. It can also charter a player’s season and the many aspects and statistics on his/her performance from game to game over the course of the season.
The Northern Board website is now live and can be found across the menu bar on the official Donegal GAA website. www.donegalgaa.ie
It will carry all fixtures and results and other club information right throughout the season.
