Now in it’s sixth year the Cara Bundoran Challenge which commences tomorrow Friday is set to break all records with over 2,000 competitors now registered.
The weekend events include something for everyone – from beginner to elite and includes a 5k Run/Walk on Fri evening, a choice of either 10k or 10 miles on Saturday and finally on Sunday morning a 20k Cycle Time Trial.
Last year over 1,500 participants flocked into the beautiful seaside town of Bundoran and experienced an event that has superb organisation, unparralled hospitality and a fast, flat course that includes a section of the The Wild Atlantic Way
An added bonus is the €7,000 prize fund and individual goodie bags, technical t-shirt and a special commenorative medallion for the first 1,500 entrants with all profits going to Crumlin Children’s Hospital, the Special Olympics and several local charities.
Race sponsor Canice Nicholas said: “Every year you aspire to do better but this is unprecedented – we are now looking at an increase of nearly a third this weekend. It is a superb tribute to all the volunteers and the many clubs around Donegal and further afield who have made this event their own.
”The event promises to be highly competitive with many chasing their personal bests no doubt a great weekend in store for all.”
