Eoghan returns home to win Sunday's Finn Valley AC 5k

Eoghan McGinley, who runs with Rathfarnham AC, but hails from Kilmacrennan, returned home to Donegal to win yesterday's Finn Valley 5k.

In testing conditions, this was the first of the Finn Valley 5k series and it attracted a fantastic turn-out of runners and walkers.

McGinley's time of 16.16 was good enough to see him first across the line with almost a minute to spare on John McElhill of Finn Valley AC (17.10).

Noel Diver of Rosses AC was third in 17.10.

Finn Valley AC's Caitriona Devine was first female athlete in a time of 20.04

Her club colleague Stacey Dolan was second in 21.07 and she had only four seconds to spare over Gillian Marley of Milford AC (21.11).

Selina O'Donnell ran 21.34.
