Finn Harps returned to action on Saturday with a friendly against Mayo junior outfit, Ballina Town, in a game switched from Ballina to the astro-turf pitch at the Lakeside in Ballyshannon.

Tony McNamee scored the only goal of the game for a Harps side that featured Wilfried Tagbo in the starting eleven.

The striker returned to training with Harps recently but was unable to play in last Wednesday night's friendly defeat to the Inishowen League in Buncrana because of injury.

Two other players included in the Harps team on Saturday were Sligo duo, Ryan McManus and Liam Flatley, a player who has been impressing for the Sligo Rovers U-19 side.

The transfer window for signing amateur players closed yesterday (January 31st) and it's expected that Harps will confirm at least one more signing either today or early this week, once registrations are processed at FAI headquarters.

Meanwhile, preparations for the new season continue apace this week with another friendly fixture organised on Saturday. This time, Ollie Horgan takes his new-look squad north to play Warrenpoint Town.

The have a free weekend up ahead because they are no longer involved in the Irish Cup. Warrenpoint, whose game against Dungannon was postponed on Saturday, are bottom of the Danske Bank Irish Premiership.
