A second half collapse from Donegal now means they must win their final game against the Inishowen Youth League if they are to progress to the knock out stages of this Season competition.

Donegal were the better team in the opening half and they took a two-goal lead - Donegal Youth League top goalscorer Jamie Brennan with the two goals.

In the 15th minute, Letterkenny Rovers midfielder Gareth Doherty played a good ball to Bonagee United’s left winger Sam Murphy who crossed a great ball into the danger area where the Erne Wanderers hitman Brennan fired a bullet header past Colm Reape in the Mayo goal.

Brennan double Donegal’s lead shortly after when he rounded the keeper and slid the ball into an empty net. But disaster struck for Donegal when with most of the play and chances to extend their lead conceded a goal just before half time when Simon Butler scored.

The second half was all Mayo and a brace of goals from Jason Hunt and a Dillon McKee hat-trick gave the Connacht side all three points and a place in the knockout stages of this season’s competition.
