Marlins Swim Club, Ballyshannon, successfully competed last weekend in the Irish Age Group Division 3 Championships.
Roisin Maguire, Emma Rooney, Una Britton and Cian Rooney all swam exceptionally well amongst 512 swimmers and a total of 73 National Swim Clubs.
Cian, one of the youngest competitors in the 11 and under age group showed great confidence in his events high lighting his strength in Breastroke qualifying into the 100m Breastroke and 200m Breastroke finals - taking 5th and 6th place out of a final of 8 competitors. Cian was also a reserve finalist in the 200m IM and acheiving new PB’s in 5 out if his 6 events.
Emma, qualified into the Division 2 Championships in the 11-12 age group with 5 events swimming very well and acheived new PB’s in four of her events - showing great strength in her 200m breastroke.
Una, entered into the Division 2 with four events taking PB’s in 3 events. Una qualified into 200m Backstroke but unfortunately was unable to swim the event, she also was a reserve finalist for 100m Backstroke.
Both Emma and Una also had great swims in the 400m Freestyle which is a new event to the girls.
Roisin qualified into the tough 13-14 year age group with 6 events including 800m Freestyle, 400m IM and 400m Freestyle. Roisin acheived new PB’s in 2 of her events.
Overall the Marlins SC Swimmers did themselves and their local Club very proud and look forward to their new swim term.
Training continues for Ruby Hurst, Mona McSharry and Eanna O’Hara for the IAG Division 1 Championships and Summer Open which take place in the NAC, Dublin Thursday July 18th - Sunday July 21st, 2013.
