The Donegal Golf Club Captain’s Day was held on Sunday and there were tough conditions for Peter Sweeney’s prize.
The winning scores were exceptional for such tough conditions and it took a break of tie to separate the first two places. Danny McMenamin is one the steadiest players in the club and this feature of his game brought him home in first place on 36pts. Second, also on 36pts was Roy Harron who was very unlucky to lose out on a break of tie, third was Kevin Connolly on 34pts.
The Ladies played their competition in slightly more favourable conditions the previous Tuesday with Dorothy Woods winning with a tremendous score of 66. Winner of the Juniors was Daniel Bennett with 34pts.
While Club Captain Peter has demonstrated his leadership qualities throughout the year his artistic talents were clearly evident in his personally hand painted 1st prizes.
All prizes were presented following an excellent meal in the presence of a large number of club members together with Peter’s family and friends.
