Local boxer Martin Ward was the toast of the Twin Towns Boxing Club on Friday night after he picked up the boxer of the tournament award at the club annual fight night in Jackson’s Hotel.
The Young Twin Towns fighter won the award for his impressive performance on his way to victory over Oisin Grant from Illies Golden Gloves in what was the fight if the night, in a bill which also included Olympic silver medallist Kenneth Egan.
Egan, boxing in his first club tournament in close on 20 years, defeated World Junior bronze medallist David Joyce, in a cracking light heavy weight contest that brought the curtain down on a night of top class boxing. In all, there were 14 bouts on the show with host club, Twin Towns Boxing Club, claiming six of the bouts.
