Goalkeeper Michael Boyle is one of seven Dublin City University players on the ‘Future Champions 2012’ football team.
Effectively the Sigerson Cup All-Stars or team of the Year, the third-level colleges team was named and champions DCU - who hammered NUI Maynooth 2-17 to 0-7 in the Sigerson Cupfinal at Pearse Stadium in Galway in February- feature prominently.
For his part, Boyle, who is 24, saved a penalty from Dublin Institute of Technology’s Alan Freeman in the quarter-finals at the DCU Sportsground in Dublin and was competent throughout. The Termon netminder was joined by Glenswilly’s Michael Murphy and St Michael’s duo Martin McElhinney and Antoin McFadden in the DCU squad.
Boyle was top-scorer for his club side in their 0-13 to 0-8 All-County League Division Three opening day win against Aodh Ruadh last weekend, kicking four placed balls.
