Shaun McElwaine is the Ulster Senior League Player of the Year and he picked up his award at the Ulster Senior League annual presentation banquet in the Mount Errigal Hotel on Friday night.
The versatile right back, who also featured at centre back and midfield, was a model of consistency right through last season and played a key role in Fanad’s match to a league and cup double in 2011.
The son of the legendary John McElwaine, he was a popular choice for the prestigious award. He was also among the nominees for the FAI Intermediate Player of Player of the Year. Jordon McBride of Letterkenny Rovers was named the Ulster Senior League First Division Player of the Year for his outstanding performances in goals for the Leckview Park outfit’s second string.
Other award winners on the night were Paul McKinney, Cockhill Celtic, who picked up the top goalscorer award with Drumkeen United’s Peter McNamee receiving the top goalscorer in the First Division award.
Derry City won the Club of the Year Award while Fanad United received their league and cup medals.
