Cockhill Celtic fail with appeal to Ulster FA

Cockhill Celtic will have to take their appeal against Fanad United to the FAI after the Ulster FA upheld the Ulster Senior League’s decision on alleged illegal players used by the Triaghalough side.

Cockhill Celtic will have to take their appeal against Fanad United to the FAI after the Ulster FA upheld the Ulster Senior League’s decision on alleged illegal players used by the Triaghalough side.

In November, Cockhill filed an objection to the Ulster Senior League in relation to Fanad’s fielding of “ineligible players” in the league title play-off, which Fanad won 1-0. The Inishowen side’s appeal was heard by the five-man Ulster FA Appeals Board last Thursday but learned on Tuesday it was unsuccessful “because of irregularites in the league rules.”

Cockhill have four working days, from Tuesday, the day they learned of the Ulster FA’s decision, to lodge and appeal to the FAI.
