Shaun McGarvey and Seamie Friel scored the goals as Donegal defeated Derry 2-9 to 1-11 in an U-21 football challenge in Buncrana on Saturday night.
McGarvey scored 1-4 and Friel posted 1-1 in a highly competitive encounter that was close throughout with Donegal just snatching it at the finish.
Donegal led 2-4 to 1-5 at half-time while county senior, Dermot Molloy, came on as a sub at half-time and played the entire second period.
This was Donegal’s second win on the trot having defeated Mayo on Wednesday night in Sligo. They have two more challenges this week. On Monday night they play Sligo in Tourlestrane and Galway on Wednesday night at venue yet to be decided.

Minors draw with Sligo
The Donegal minors drew with Sligo yesterday in Ballyshannon.
The game ended 0-8 each and was part of a weekend bonding session by the Donegal squad, who stayed in Bundoran last night and are due to play Monaghan today (Sunday).
In squally conditions, it was an evenly contested game, which was level at half-time at 0-7 each, while both teams managed just one point each in the second half, although Donegal did have most of the possession and had quite a number of wides.
The Donegal point scorers were Conor Harkin (4), Ciaran Thompson 2 (one free), Simon Cuffe and Colm Melaugh.
