The Dubliners looked to be on their way to all three points when Gareth Coughlan fired them in front on 31 minutes.

However, Harps played well in the first half and got the equaliser their pressure deserved on 40 minutes. Kevin McHugh delivered a corner which was completely misjudged by Shels keeper, Nathan Murphy, and Damien McNulty turned the ball home at the back post.

Harps went in front on 63 minutes when Michael Funston crashed the ball home after being set-up by Gareth Harkin. But Shels drew level when Dylan Connolly made it 2-2 on 70 minutes.

Then with only three minutes left, Michael Funstron struck for his second of the night. He curled the ball in past Murphy and off the post to make it 3-2.

It was an impressive performance from a Harps team who play Wexford Youths away on Tuesday night before next Sunday afternoon’s FAI Ford Cup semi final at St. Patrick’s Athletic.

With Longford winning 2-0 at Waterford, Shelbourne are now 4 points behind the leaders with only two games left to play.
