All 18 players selected were part of the Irish squad that finished sixth in the 12 nation Cyprus Cup tournament earlier this month.

During the tournament Ireland, who were ranked 12th of the 12 participants, finished second in Group C to South Korea after missing out on the top spot on goal difference following 1-1 draws against New Zealand and South Korea and a 2-1 win over Switzerland. They were then beaten 2-1 by world No 7 Canada in the play-off for fifth and sixth place with the 2012 Olympic bronze medallists scoring the winning goal in the 90th minute

The game against Germany marks the resumption of the World Cup qualifying campaign. Ireland, with seven points from their opening three games, lie second in the Group One table behind Germany who have full points from five games and have scored 40 goals without conceding any so far.

It is the beginning of a run of three consecutive home games for the Irish as they play Russia on May 7 and Croatia on June 14 before heading to Russia on June 19.
