Mulroy College, Milford, clinched the SFAI All-Ireland Senior B Girls title when they defeated Colaiste Mhuire, Ballymote, 3-0 in final.

The Lakeside in Ballyshannon was a good venue for this decider and the Milford girls came good in the second half, after a shaky opening period.

They led by 1-0 at the break, the goal coming on the stroke of half-time, a corner from Michelle Doherty, taken short for Amanda Callaghan to swing in and Caoimhe Walsh fired home from close range.

They were fortunate to be in front as Ballymote dominated for the first 20 minutes and were denied a goal by a linesman’s flag after Shauna Healy had finished well. Nicole Martin also struck a crossbar and Lianne Boyce denied Healy with a last ditch tackle.

And while Milford dominated the second quarter, they didn’t create any clear cut chances.

The second half was a different story with the diminutive Zoe Green, still U-15, giving a masterclass for the winners, turning up everywhere, in defence and attack.

The crucial second goal arrived 18 minutes into the second half when a mistake in the Ballymote defence saw Lucy Marie O’Flynn clear and she was pulled down by ‘keeper, Gemma Currie. Currie was shown a yellow, which was lenient, but she could nothing with the expertly struck penalty from Michelle Doherty.

Doherty was to added a third with four minutes left to allow Mulroy enjoy the final minutes.
