Letterkenny native Ciara Grant is among the nominees for the Bus Éireann Women’s National League annual award nominations for 2013-14.
Raheny United midfielder Grant, Peamount United trio Aine O’Gorman, Stephenie Roche and Julie-Ann Russell, Castlebar Celtic’s Emma Hansberry and Galway WFC’s Sinead Taylor have all been shortlisted for the Player of the Year award.
Grant scored the opening goal for Raheny as they lifted the FAI Women’s Cup in November following a 3-2 extra-time victory over Castlebar Celtic at thae Aviva Stadium.
The UCD Medicine student has also been a regular in the Republic of Ireland national team, who were narrowly defeated 3-2 by Germany at Tallaght Stadium in a Fifa World Cup qualifier earlier this month.
That outing was Ireland’s fourth in the World Cup qualifying campaign and they go into it after a great start with seven points from three games , winning against Slovakia 2-0, drawing 1-1 against Croatia and overcoming Slovenia 3-0.
She was also part of the Ireland Women’s National Team at the Cyprus Cup in March.
There, Ireland, who were ranked 12th of the 12 competing nations before a ball was kicked, ended up in sixth position.
