Waterford United 2

Finn Harps 0

Goals in the first half from Paddy Barrett (17) and Jack Doherty (44), put the home side into the ascendency.

Harps, without the suspended Thomas Bonner and Keith Cowan, created chances of their own - the best falling to Sean McCarron.

Jack Doherty was sent off in the second half for Waterford when he picked up a second yellow card for diving inside the area.

But Harps were unable to find a way back into the contest and the defeat means they are now overtaken by Waterford who move into second in the table while Harps drop to fifth.

For Harps, it was a third defeat of the season but they’ll be hoping to get back to winning ways when Shamrock Rovers B visit Finn Park next Friday night.
