Michael Funston has been named Finn Harps player of the year for 2013.

The midfielder picked up the award on Friday night at the club’s annual presentation of awards night in the Villa Rose Hotel, Ballybofey.

The Bonagee man, who returned to the club las season after a spell in the Irish League, was one of Harps’ most consistent performers in the course of the season.

Let it be in the centre of midfield or on the right wing Michael always gives one hundred per cent and his choice of player of the year is a popular one with Harps fans.

Also on the night Letterkenny lad Josh Mailey was named the Young Player of the Year. Mailey had a very impressive debut season at Finn Park having broken into the team in the early part of the season.

One of his finest performances was in Harps’ League Cup clash with Derry City in Finn Park, back in May, which was won by the Candystripes in extra-time.

Like Michael Funston, Josh has signed again for the new season and as a versatile defender he is equally comfortable at centre-half or right-back.

The U-19 Player of the Year award went to young Darragh Black who had a fine season for the U-19s and U-21s.
