In a highly entertaining game ,Fanad eventually came out on top 5-3. In the league, two games were played on Saturday, Erne Wanderers defeated Bonagee United 2-0 and Letterkenny Rovers defeated Castlefin Celtic 5-0. Only one game is down for decision this weekend - Letterkenny Rovers travel to play Roscommon Town in the FAI Youth Cup on Sunday afternoon.

After progressing to the knock-out stages of this seasons FAI Youth Inter League Cup, the Donegal youth League have been given a home draw against the Combined Counties Football League. The game is fixed for the first weekend in February.

Letterkenny Rovers made it seven wins out of seven on Saturday afternoon in the Donegal Youth League after a comprehensive 5-0 win against Castlefin Celtic at the Aura in Letterkenny.

Rovers need four points now in their remaining three games to clinch the league. In a well contested opening 20 minutes, the first real chance fell to the visitors when Stephen Long shot just past Christopher O’Donnell left hand post. The opening goal came in the 25th minute when Gavin McDaid scored from the penalty spot after being fouled by the Castlefin net minder Anthony O’Hagan. Anthony Gorman’s troops made to 2-0 four minutes later when Marty Vance lobbed O’Hagan from 20 yards out.

In the second half Rovers addedthree more goals. Firstly McDaid scored his second of the game after his shot from 15 yards out was spilled into the net by O’Hagan. Adrian Delap scored a powerful header from close range to make it 4-0 and substitute Billy J Banda made it 5 when he smashed an unstoppable strike into the bottom of the net with time also up.

Up next for Rovers is a FAI Youth Cup away fixture against Roscommon Town next Sunday.
