There was a great standard of basketball from start to finish and gave the players that bit of regular ball at a higher standard which will help all the players improve. Basketball Northern Ireland did the same and their East Ulster side were the hosts for this first time event in Queens University in Belfast.

Queens University themselves also took part playing our teams first in both the boys and girls. Our lads team had a great win against a team boasting National league players and one of the country’s top talents in Caolan Cairns who plays for Penn College in Division 1 in the College game in America, a standard very few Irish players have ever reached. He is currently home getting rehab for an injury and togged out against our lads which was a great thrill for our team to play against him . DDS Select eventually won by 12 points in a great game.

The girls also had a tough challenge in the form of Queens who boasted some fine players with a few of them playing Super League Basketball for Ulster Rockets which is the highest league in the country. Our girls led the whole way only to go down by 2 points in a cracker of a game. A wonderful high standard from the girls.

Both our teams then took on East Ulster in their own age groups with both sides coming away with great wins. Great to see such interest in this concept from the top players in the area and we hope to keep it going with further challenges next season. Thanks to all the players and coaches for their efforts. A great honor for these players to get selected and they did they themselves and their clubs proud . Well done to them all and good luck to the U16s.
