Played in true championship style this game ignited from the start with little seperating the sides thoughout the first half.

Odhran Mac Niallais opened the scoring on 2 mins before Adrian Sweeney levelled mattesr on 5 mins pointing from a free. Peter McGee and Kevin Cassidy pointed on 7 and 9 mins for the visitors as the home side had to watch their chances fall either side of the posts.

Dungloe’s first goal chance fell to David McCarron however, he was denied by Christopher Sweeeny in the Gaoth Dobhair goals. It was Cassidy who put two between the sides as the game entered the final five mins pointing on 26 minutes.

Adrian Sweeney pointed from a free on 29 mins to keep his side in touch before half time. An Odhran Mac Niallais free on the stoke of half time was cleared by a high fetching catch by Ramond Sweeney to leave the half time score Dungloe 0-2 Gaoth Dobhair 0-4.

The second half started in lively fashion and it was the visitors who were first out of the starting blocks and Padraig McGarvey had put four between the sides after a minutepointing from the throw in and running on to a great pass from mid fielder Kevin Cassidy to fire over the crossbar.

Adrian Hanlon and James Carroll traded points at either end as the home side tried to claw back the deficit. Adrian Sweeney and Noel McBride converted two frees to leave 2 between the sides again. On 41 mins Ciaran Sharkey in t

he Dungloe goals denied Padraig McGarvey his sides first goal chance but McGarvey pointed from a free a min later for his side.

As the game entered the final quarter Neil McGee made a run up the field combining with brother Eamon but Neil had the final touch to the back of the Dungloe net as his team started to pull away for the first time in the game.

While at the other end of the field a minute later Adrian Hanlon broke through the Gaoth Dobhair defence and goaled for the home side - game back to three again wiht 14 mins left. Neil McGee and Peter McGee pointed on 17 and 18 mins and a James Carroll free on 24 mins finished the Gaoth Dobhair scoring. On 27 mins Adrian Hanlon pointed from a free to leave the final score Dungloe 1-6 Gaoth Dobhair 1-11.
