Donegal Schoolboys Kennedy Cup squad are off to the North West of England tonight (Thursday) on a week long Easter trip, in preparation for next May’s Kennedy Cup competition.

The 19 man squad (U-14) and their coaches Mark McConnell and Paul Callan and parents representatives Denis McBride and Fintan O’Brien, depart tonight after playing the Carlow League in a friendly in Finn Park.

The entire travelling party are based in Blackburn for the week and are being hosted, by leading English club Blackburn United, before they return home again this night week.

“The boys are really looking forward to the trip. It is a pretty hectic schedule but it will be a good experience and a great opportunity for the lads to play against top class English opposition,” said Mark McConnell.

The trip includes friendly games against Burnley, Bury, Blackburn Rovers and Manchester United. And among the other highlights of the trip will include watching the Championship meeting of Blackburn Rovers v Blackpool in Ewood Park on Friday evening and the Premiership meeting of Wigan Athletic and Norwich City in the DW Stadium, on Saturday afternoon.

And for the Manchester United fans in the party the real treat has to be a guided tour of Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United.
