Rosses Academy moved clear at the top of the Northern Section of the Donegal Youth League after a 2-1 victory over nearest rival Letterkenny Rovers on Saturday afternoon.
Ben Boyle’s men took the lead after just 10 minutes when centre half Patrick Gillespie scored from close range. With both defences playing well, no more goals were scored in the first half.
Rovers made three substitutions early in the second half and they were rewarded with an equaliser when one of the subs, Dale Gorman, scored direct free kick 20 yards out.
Shortly after this Rovers chances were dealt a blow when their centre forward Marty Vance was shown a straight red card for an off the ball altercation.
Rosses capitalised on the man advantage and won the game with 15 minutes remaining when Hugh Boyle scored a glancing header past Rovers net minder Chris O’Donnell, to put the Keadue men three points clear at the top.
