Four Masters honour their All-Ireland heroes

Four Masters GAA Club held their 2012 annual awards night in Dom’s Pier 1 on Friday last 18th January. MC for the evening Kieran Espey welcomed all of the special guests to the function and the first order of business was the carrying of the Sam Maguire and Anglo Celt cups into the venue by the clubs three All-Ireland winning medalists Karl Lacey, Paul Durcan and Barry Dunnion.

MC for the evening Kieran Espey welcomed all of the special guests to the function and the first order of business was the carrying of the Sam Maguire and Anglo Celt cups into the venue by the clubs three All-Ireland winning medalists Karl Lacey, Paul Durcan and Barry Dunnion.

Medal recipients on the night were the club’s Senior Ladies who were beaten County Finalists in 2012, and medals were presented by Deborah Lacey from the Ladies Board. Appreciation awards were presented by outgoing Chairman Sean Dunnion to Karl Lacey, Paul Durcan, and Barry Dunnion for their outstanding achievements during 2012, returning three All-Ireland medals, two GAA/GPA All-Stars and Karl Lacey’s GAA/GPA Footballer of The Year accolade.

The awards night sponsor Cieran Kelly of Kelco Communications presented the individual Club Awards and Mr Kelly was commended for his support of the awards function over the past 10 years. Sean Dunnion presented the Club Person of the Year to Eamon Gorrell who was accepting the award for the second time in 3 years.

In his final address before moving on to the high office of County Chairman, Sean Dunnion thanked the Club for their help and support over the preceding six years and more recently during his campaign to secure the County Chairman role. Sean congratulated Karl, Paul and Barry on their outstanding achievements in 2012 and made reference to the immense pride they brought to the club. The new County Chairman also thanked Kelco Communications for their sponsorship of the awards night and Dom’s Pier 1 for their ongoing club sponsorship. Michael Breslin and his staff were also thanked for the excellent service and dinner served on the night.

Finally Club Person of The Year Eamon Gorrell presented Sean with an Appreciation award for his service as P.R.O., Secretary and Chairman of Four Masters GAA Club and wished him all the best for his tenure as County Chairman, the second ever Four Masters GAA club member after Mr Frank Muldoon, who held the chair for a 3 year period from 1956 – 1958.
