Harps’ second win of the campaign away to the midlanders, following their 3-1 success in April means the side managed by Peter Hutton are now six games unbeaten prior to league leaders’ Longford Town’s arrival at Finn Park on Friday night.

Kevin McHugh, as is oft the case, was Harps’ matchwinner. The 32-year-old scored his eight league goal of the campaign six minutes after the break with a typically assured finish.

Daniel Purdy, on six minutes, brought a save from Harps’ goalkeeper Ciaran Gallagher and Robert Bayly also tested the number one midway through the half.

Then, Gallagher was alert again, this time saving from Gary Shaw after a cross by Thomas Crowley.

Thomas Havery was then stretchered off for the hosts with what was later learned to be a broken elbow and after Harps got their noses in front, they began to control the tempo of the game. Thomas Bonner also made the destination of the points completely safe, only to be denied by Craig Hyland. Gallagher’s late save from Bayly confirmed the excellent away win.
