Stephen McBrearty and Gavin McBride scored the goals and also shared the top scoring spot with 1-1 each, while Darragh Black (3) and Michael Millar, John McDyre, Niall Harley and Odhran Molloy posted 0-1 each.

Donegal turned in a storming second half into a stiff breeze as they came from two points down at half-time, 2-5 to 1-6.

First half goals from Jonah Laffferty and Macauley Quinn gave the O’Neill County their deserved interval cushion.

Stephen McBrearty converted from the penalty spot to keep the Tir Chonaill men in touch in the middle of the first period.

While Kieran Hughes momentarily extended the Red Hands’ lead, Donegal responded with points from McBride and Odhran Molloy, before McBride banged home goal number two.

The second goal propelled Donegal into the lead for the first time to set up a spine tingling closing ten minutes.

While Tyrone pressed late on a Hughes pointed free was and a last minute strike from John Connelly was all the had to show as Donegal held on.
