Former Munster and Ireland hooker, Frankie Sheahan, was the special guest at the end of year presentation night held by Donegal Town Rugby Club on Saturday night in the Abbey Hotel.
A large crowd was in attendance as the awards for the year were presented with Paul Timoney picking up the coveted Clubperson of the year award for his great work in fund-raising and underage organisation at the club.
Pete-so Cannon picked up the First Team Player of the Year award in a year that he broke a club scoring record in a single game, hitting 32 points in the team’s win over Belfast High School.
The club’s U-13s had earlier in the day suffered heartbreak when they were beaten by a late try by Rainey Old Boys in the Ulster Plate final held in Cookstown.
But with the First Team finishing well in the Ulster League and with the work being done at underage coming to fruition, there are good times ahead for the club.
