Aodh Ruadh 1-6

Buncrana picked up their second brace of league points with a narrow victory at home to Aodh Ruadh on Sunday.

In a very closely contested encounter Oran Doherty put in a man of the match performance in the middle of the field for Buncrana, who were without county player Ryan Bradley, who tweaked a hamstring at county training during the week.

Buncrana led 0-5 to 0-3 at half-time and that margin was maintained in the second half as Kevin Treacy and Niall McCready goaled for their respective sides. Aodh Ruadh again introduced Kerry Ryan, McCready and Brian Roper in the second half, but not with the same impact as in Pairc na nGael on Friday night.

A Christopher McDermott goal helped Burt to a 1-3 to 0-4 lead at half-time, but Carndonagh kept in touch with scores from Dominic Doherty and Garbhan McGrenra. Scores from Conor Harkin and Shane McDaid put Burt four ahead midway through the second half but a rally from Carn, topped off with a vital goal from Ryan Kelly, saw the visitors take points from Hibernian Park.

In the second half Red Hugh’s continued to frustrate the home side with Damien Browne in superb form, both in terms of scoring and defending.

A vital victory for Red Hugh’s as they attempt to adjust to Division Three football.
