The Ulster Senior League champions were a Eunan Kelly goal to the good entering stoppage time, only to unravel. Two goals in injury time, from Conor Murphy and Roddy Collins Jnr snatched victory in dramatic fashion.

Roddy Collins opted to play an experimental side and it looked like it might have backfired when Eunan Kelly put the visitors in front after 38 minutes. Fanad - who have an illustrious history having topped league teams like Finn Harps, Sligo Rovers, Derry City, Galway United, Home Farm and Bray Wanderers - another chapter was about to be written. However, those two late goals means that it will be Monaghan United and not Fanad who travel to take on Sligo in the next round.

Monaghan United: Schlingermann, R Collins, L Dunne, Murphy, Griffiths (Isichei 57), Humphrey (N Crosbie 80), Reynor, Crosbie, McGuinness, S Dunne, Marks.

Fanad United: McFadden, McElwaine, McDaid, Gorman, S Friel, P Friel, Connaghan (McVeigh 80), K Kelly (McMonagle 77), E Kelly, Sweeney, M Friel (Toland 65).
