Raphoe Town 1 – 3 Lagan Harps
Lagan Harps left neighbours Raphoe with a decent 3-1 away win.
Raphoe started brightest and scored on 23 minutes when Lagan failed to clear a corner and Amy Martin volleyed home. Raphoe had chances to extend their lead before half time but a long distance free kick from Amber Barrett, at 40 minutes, took a deflection to deceive Raphoe’s keeper, Christine Marley.
The home team tried hard in the second half but again it was Lagan who took the advantage from another well struck free kick by Nadine Crawford on the hour mark. Raphoe pressed but were caught out by a Lagan break when Raphoe conceded a penalty which the impressive Christine Marley saved, but Lagan were first to the rebound with Annette Pearson at 75 minutes. Raphoe’s best player on the night, Emma Carlin, had a late strike saved and Lagan held out for the win. Best for Lagan was Amber Barrett.
Fanad United 0 – 1 Finn Valley
In a game dominated by a swirling wind, rain and sleet showers it was no surprise that there were few chances for either team over the 90 minutes.
Fanad started with the wind at their backs and the few shots they had were safely gathered by Sara Herron in the Valley net. Fanad had forced a succession of corners but could not find the breakthrough before half time. The second half was Valley’s turn to apply the wind assisted pressure and it paid of when the forced three corners and from the last one on 65 minutes Lisa Friel inadvertently scored an own goal. This spurred Fanad on and they pressed forward but could find no way past Sara Herron who was Valleys player of the match. Best for Fanad was Lisa Friel.
