A Donegal man is plotting this week what he hopes to be the biggest upset of the year in the GAA championship across the Atlantic in New York.

Connie Molloy from Ardara, brother of Donegal All-Ireland winning captain Anthony, is the manager of the New York team that play Sligo in the first round of the Connacht Championship in Gaelic Park on Sunday afternoon.

A championship winner with Ardara, Molloy took over from another Donegal man Seamus Sweeney from Cresslough at the start of the year. And strengthening the Donegal and Ardara connection even further if the fact Connie’s three sons CJ, Shane and Conor are also members of the squad.

Sligo are the raging hot favourites for the game and are odds on to advance to a quarter final meeting either Galway or Roscommon who meet at the end of the month. The game is on Sunday with throw in 3pm New York time, 8pm Irish time.
