McFadden captains boys in green

The Norwich City clubman, who plays centre-back, wore the armband for the first two games but unfortunately for the boys in green they will not be taking part in the finals in Slovenia in May.

Ireland went down by a single goal against Serbia in RKSV Schijndel FC on Thursday. A tight game appeared destined to end in stalemate until 14 minutes from the finish when Milan Jokic ghosted in six yards out to convert a low cross by Filip Jankovic. Then, at the same venue yesterday, Dylan Hayes put Ireland in front from the penalty spot against the hosts Holland. However, the Dutch faught back to win 2-1 with Tonny Trindade de Vilhena scoring twice. Peter Burke from Buncrana was the substitute goalkeeper and Ireland conclude their fixtures against Albania on Tuesday.
