Donegal will be well represented at the underage national soccer finals with both the U-16 and U-19 team in action next week in Tallaght.
The U-16s played three games in total last Friday, the first against North Dublin, which they won 2-0, then a 2-1 win over South Dublin before defeating Connacht 2-1. Milford native Amber Barrett from Lagan Harps scored all six goals, however, during the course of the day, great performances were upheld by Nadine Crawford (Lagan Harps), Eimear Lafferty (Greencastle), Heather Dougherty (Fanad United), Kathy McLaughlin (Greencastle) and Nicole Gordan (Carndonagh). U-16 squad: Heather Dougherty, Aisling McDermott (both Fanad United), Nadine Crawford, Saorla McGarrigle, Amber Barrett, Sinead Dunne, Meghan Reid (all Lagan Harps), Aine Coll (Glenree United), Kathy McLaughlin, Eimear Lafferty, Rebecca Henry, Aine McLaughlin, Sarah Jane McDonald, Melissa McDermott (all Greencastle United), Paula McGrory, Aine Breslin, Stacey Doherty (all Illies Celtic), Nicole Gordan (Carndonagh).
The U-16 side play North Munster, a combination of Limerick, Clare, North Kerry in the final and are managed by FAI Regional Officer Trevor Scanlon and Brid McGinty of Lagan Harps.
The U-19’s played Dundalk in their opener, running in a convincing win 6 -1 with three goals from Gemma McGuinness from Greencastle, Lauren Harper from Lagan Harps, Maria Brown of Cockhill Celtic and Rapgoe Town’s Deborah Kerrigan.
Their final game was against Dublin and this game was abandoned shortly after half time due to a serious injury obtained by the Dublin ‘keeper, however the Ulster girls were one up at the time with a goal from Gemma McGuinness after five minutes.

The U-19’s now go on to play Cork in the final and the squad was managed by Steve McNutt, the FAI Regional Officer, and Anthony Doherty from Aileach.
