Aodh Ruadh club man Tom Daly failed in his attempt to become of the trustees of the Gaelic Athletic Association at the GAA annual Congress in Killenard, Laois on Friday night.

It was expected that the former Ulster Council President was a certainty to be elected as one the trustees, such is his standing country-wide.

But in a vote on the night, Daly lost out to Seamus Howlin of Wexford and Jimmy O’Gorman, Waterford, on the second count.

Daly received 58 votes in the first count but only added six on the 2nd count and was surprisingly a long way short of the quota of 101.
