A chink in Valentines armour appeared for a brief moment, when Mr Captain in a Freudian slip of the tongue, remarked it was his first presentation. Golf knowledge and Rules: Isn’t it amazing how you can doubt yourself when a playing partner is so adamant of a rule!
There is no penalty and it is permissible to ask a player to mark her ball on the green even if you are not on it. Not to be confused with Line of Play on the putting green. Before a player makes a stroke from the putting green, she can have her line of putting pointed out, as long as the green is not touched. Placing a mark on the green to point out the line is also not permitted. Only the player, the player’s partner or either of their caddies are allowed to point out the line.
