Ladies GAA

The ladies put up a very commited and spirited performance in the first round of the Bord Gais League encounter in Ballyshannon on Sunday morning and were highly praised for their grit and determination on a day several of their squad from 2010 and 2011 were missing through emigration and unavailability, but those who put on the jersey gave the manager 100% for the full hour against the All Ireland Champions of 2011.

Every member of those on the pitch including subs were a credit to themselves and their clubs. Though Cork won by a margin of eleven points the score in no way indicated the difference in play on the pitch by both teams. With two certain scores that rebounded off the bar and upright and a hesitation on part of a very young player the final score would have been much different.

This weekend Michael and the squad make the long journey to Ballykelly in Kildare to meet the home side in round two and I have no doubt the girls will play with the same skill and determination and hope they will come home with the points.
