Michael Boyle and Antoin McFadden were part of the DCU side that got their Irish Daily Mail Sigerson Cup off to a winning start with a victory over Cork IT at Glasnevin on Tuesday.
Boyle, the Termon goalkeeper, kept goal in the 0-11 to 0-8 win, whilst McFadden from St Michael’s impressed as a second half substitute. Glenswilly’s Michael Murphy was an absentee for DCU having undergone a groin operation, while Martin McElhinney missed out having picked up an ankle injury whilst playing for Donegal against Down on Saturday night in Newry.
Dublin’s Dean Rock slotted 0-6 for DCU, while Eoghan O’Gara was sent off for two yellow cards 10 minutes from time. Next week’s quarter-finals sees NUI Galway entertain University of Ulster Jordanstown, IT Sligo face UCC, NUI Maynooth welcome UCD and DCU take on DIT.
