AODH RUADH: The monthly club meeting takes place on Thursday, September 29, at 8.30pm in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh. All committee members are asked to attend. A very understrength seniors side made the trip to Downings last Saturday and were no match for a home outfit on a good run of results as Downings won by 1-10 to 0-6. Aodh Ruadh’s reserves had to ride their luck against an exceptionally dogged St Naul’s side to get to the semi-final of the intermediate reserve championship, 1-15 to 2-7.
Aodh Ruadh’s division three campaign continues this Saturday when we travel up the N15 to our neighbours, Naomh Bríd. The senior game throws-in at 5.45pm and is preceded by the reserves at 4.15pm. The minors took on Cloughaneely in the county league semi-final in Glenties last Sunday to secure their passage in the league final on a score line of 3-4 to 2-8.
A powerful first half display from Aodh Ruadh’s U-13s was sufficient to see them home as they took on Bundoran last Saturday and the points on a score line of 5-13 to 1-7. Sunday last saw the 30th anniversary of the Aodh O Dálaigh U-12 hurling tournament hosted by the Aodh Ruadh Juvenile Hurling Committee. In the primary final Ballycastle finished strongly to secure the Primary Shield, but not before having being pushed to the limit by Aodh Ruadh who just fell to a couple of late goals on a score line of 4-6 to 2-3.
On Saturday the U-16s play Burt in Fr Tierney Park in the delayed championship quarter-final replay with a 4.30pm throw-in. A lot of preparations have been made for the Scrap Saturday fund-raiser which will take place this Saturday, October 1 and Saturday week, October 8. Members of the public from the general area are asked to bring their unwanted scrap metal items to Fr Tierney Park between 9am and 5pm on each day.
ARD A RATHA: Both the senior and reserve sides return to action this Saturday as they travel to Fallcaragh. The reserves’ clash with hosts Cloughaneely actually follows the seniors at a time of 6pm. Patrick Gallagher’s men are in action at the earlier time of 4.30pm. There are big league points at stake for both sides and your support would be appreciated.
CLG Ard An Ratha present a fashion show in the Nesbitt Arms Hotel this Saturday, October 1. MC for the evening will be our very own Patrick McGill who is sure to add a lot of fun to the evening.
Interval entertainment will be provided by ‘Agnes and Barney’ that is John B. O’Donnell and Eddie Mulligan. Their show is hilarious and will surly go down a treat with the audience. The minor team qualified for the County Minor League Div 1 final on Sunday, when they defeated Convoy on a 2-9 to 1-7 scoreline in Glenties. They now play Cloughaneely in the final. This weekend the team play Naomh Conaill in the Southern Championship final on Sunday morning in Donegal Town at 11am. The U-13s continued their winning ways with a victory over Killybegs on Monday evening in Fintra. They now play Aodh Ruadh at home on Friday at 6pm. The B team got their first victory on Saturday, when they defeated Naomh Brid in Ballintra.

Our senior status is now hanging by a thread, it would seem that only six points from our last three games can prevent us dropping down into the intermediate championship next year. The third team played St Eunan’s in the much delayed first leg quarter final of the Junior B Championship. In the end they lost out by a point 2-6 to 0-13. They must now hope to reverse matters the next day to take this match to a third game. On Sunday our senior ladies come up against Annaclone from Co Down in the quarter-final of the Ulster championship, this game is fixed for Sunday in Pairc Taobhoige with a 2pm throw-in. MILFORD: The seniors had an excellent win over Naomh Brid of Ballintra on Saturday evening. The final score was 2-7to 0-12 with Chippy Barrett and Mark Flood getting the all important goals.
Luke Barrett and Lorcan Friel were in exceptional form and Caolan McGettigan will be hoping that the team can continue this form against St Naul’s this Saturday.

NAOMH ADHAMNAIN: The reserves lost a tough encounter with Kilcar in their Championship quarter-final on Sunday in Donegal Town going down by 3-11 to 2-10.
The juniors got a narrow victory over a good Glenfin side in their first round, first leg championship game in Taobhoige. The return game is scheduled for this Saturday in the Park at 5:45pm. The seniors travelled to Dungloe in the league and came away with two valuable points in what is a very tight division this year. The seniors and reserves both travel to Malin on Saturday. We will host a Championship double-header this Saturday in the Junior A and B Championships. Any available stewards are asked to be in the Park for 2pm.
The minor Boys had a good victory in the Northern Board Championship Final against MacCumhaill’s on Saturday in Glenfin. They now await the Southern Board runners-up.
The U-15s were narrowly beaten in the Northern Board Final by Gaoth Dobhair on Sunday in Dunfanaghy. The U-13 Division One boys had a good win over Gaoth Dobhair on Saturday in Magheragallen. The Division Two team also won on Friday night defeating Downings. They travel to Fanad Gaels this week. The U-13 hurlers beat Carrickmore but lost to Swatragh in a very competitive game. The U-14 Camogie team played the rescheduled Championship quarter-final on Monday. Please note that all players must pay for the bus unless paying lotto membership.

The third team made their exit from the championship going down 0-10 to 0-4 against Naomh Ultan in Ardara last Saturday evening. The reserves came through in their Reserve championship second leg match against Carndonagh with a two point victory. They only took the lead in the last five minutes but this young team showed a lot of determination and spirit to come through. The playoff fixture looks like being this Saturday in Urris with a 4pm throw in. The seniors will also play their league game against Urris with a 5:45pm throw in.
There will also be a table quiz also in Casadh an tSugan this Saturday in aid of Naomh Mhuire Peil Na Mna at 10 pm. The annual rental advertising board rental renewal is now due. There was a very successful club development plan session last Friday evening. Thanks to all who attended and there was a lot of good discussion. Also a very positive meeting on Monday night last that set out some objectives for the club and thanks to all those who attended.

ST NAUL’S: A great weekend for the club started with our minors winning the southern regional final, beating Four Masters by a point on Friday evening and ended with our seniors comprehensively beating Urris in the intermediate semi final on Sunday afternoon in Convoy.
The only downer was the loss by our reserves to Aodh Ruadh on Saturday evening in the reserve championship play-off after a lot of injury time followed by extra time. Back to league action this weekend with both seniors and reserves playing Milford at home on Saturday evening. A cake sale in aid of St Naul’s ladies will be held in Mountcharles Community Centre this Sunday, October 2, at 12 noon.
There was no winner of last weekend’s Slotto jackpot, winners of €40 each for nearest to correct sequence were Michael O’Driscoll, Mountcharles and Fengxia Bioon, c/o Brennan’s Filling Station, sequence drawn was 6, 1, 4, 5, 7, 2 and 3. This weekend’s jackpot will be €1,770.
The U-13s had a successful trip to play Naomh Columba on Saturday morning last, winning on a scoreline of 4-11 to 1-8. Congratulations to Patrick (Pap) Breslin who alone forecast the correct score in the All-Ireland Final and thus won the €150 prize.
TIR CHONAILL GAELS: Well done to our U-8 and U-10 teams who took part in Saturday’s London Minor Board Tournament held in glorious sunshine at Tir Chonaill Park. Next Blitz is on Saturday, October 8, hosted by Parnell’s at Northwick Park. Congratulations to the Minor team on reaching the Championship final after beating Tara’s 3-12 to 4-5.
After a disappointing loss last week to Tara’s in the League final, the Gaels were determined not to let history repeat itself this week and upped their game to come out victorious. As always each player gave it their all and the win was entirely a whole team effort. TCG now face Parnells in the final which is due to be played on Sunday, October 16.

The juniors play Dulwich on Sunday in Greenford at 12 noon in the league, whilst the reserves play Kingdon/Kerry Gaels on Saturday in the league at 3pm, also in Greenford.Well done to Hughie Cunningham on completing the North East run half marathon in one hour 50 minutes. This was a great effort by Hughie, as he was running in aid of the Alzheimers’ Society.
