PFAI player of the year nominations announced

Derry City goalkeeper Gerard Doherty is the only north west-based player included in the PFAI Premier Division team of the year which was announced today.

No players from Finn Harps or Sligo Rovers have been included.

Doherty is the only player from outside the league’s top two of Dundalk and Cork City to have made the team.

Two players each from Dundalk and Cork City are in the running for the PFAI Player of the Year award for 2016, as voted for by their fellow professionals.
