Plenty of local winners at Killybegs Sea Angling May competition
The Killybegs Sea Angling Club held their May Species competition last weekend with two boats used for competition, Brian McGilloway’s Meridean and Colin Campbell with the Duanai Mara. Thirteen seniors and two juniors took part.

The Killybegs Sea Angling Club held their May Species competition last weekend with two boats used for competition, Brian McGilloway’s Meridean and Colin Campbell with the Duanai Mara. Thirteen seniors and two juniors took part.

The top angler on the day was Michael Patton with a total of 14 species. He was closely followed by Fred Mills with 13 species and David McCormack with 12 species.

Top junior angler was Dylan Doherty with eight species. Best Killybegs SAC angler was Orin McLaughlin with eight species.

The club was pleased to see so many species caught this year. In previous years the totals were round the sixes and sevens, so well done to all the anglers.

Species caught were Ballan Wrasse, Coalie, Cod, Cuckoo Wrasse, Dab, Flounder, Grey Gurnard, Link, LS Dogfish, Plaice, Pollock, Poor Cod, Pouting, Turbot, Whiting, Blonde Ray, Spotted Ray, Cuckoo Ray.

Prizegiving was in the Bay View Hotel and thanks to the manager, Henry Coleman, for the use of the premises.

We are now looking forward to our main angling competition on 12/13th July when we will also be hosting the IFS A Shalimar Ladies competition.
