Last weekend the county darts team was in action at the Radisson Blu, Letterkenny for the West Coast Challenge Saturday 25th 2014.
The men, women and youths were in action on the day, commencing at 12 noon and finished up around 12 midnight.
At the end of it all the mens team beat Mayo 7-6 in the final, with our captain Noelle O’Donnell winning the last game in great fashion. That makes Donegal the 9 time champions of the West Coast Challenge. Not to be outdone, the women beat Mayo 4-3 in their final as well . . . some really good darts on the day.
Thanks to the Radisson Blu for their hospitality and for the venue on the day, especially to Paul Byrne and Sue Ellen and the entire staff on the day. Thanks alsoto all the people who sponsored a board on the day. Finally we would like to thank Glenveagh Engineering for their kind sponsorship and for shirts for all the men and womens teams. Glenveagh representatives Gary Kennedy, Roisin Kennedy and Pat Conwell were present on the day to cheer their teams on, we thank you for spending the entire day with us.
Donegal Chairman John O’Brien would also like to thank all the teams who attended and all the supporters who came out and cheered us on. He also hopes that our teams will do well in two weeks time in Ennis at the Inter Counties Championship. He was high in his praise for the Donegal Youths team who played well despite not having success. John also said it was great to see some new faces representing Donegal this year as we had a second mens squad and a second ladies squad.
