Ballyshannon RFC hosted a mini rugby blitz on Saturday morning last on a damp and blustery day at the Lakeside. Underage teams from Tir Chonaill, Inishowen and Donegal Town travelled south for the blitz.
The squally conditions didn’t dampen the occasion with all teams playing 2-3 games. It was a great morning of rugby for the players and their families who came to support them. It was great to see so many up and coming Ballyshannon Rugby players at the fore yesterday. A past Ballyshannon Rugby player, and current youth trainer, Ronan McInerney was amazed at the amount of young boys and girls playing their heart out on the day, “it shows great promise for the future” he added.
The club would like to thank all those who helped at the blitz, the referees, the coaches and the parents who supplied the refreshments afterwards. We would like to thank the teams from Tir Chonaill, Inishowen and Donegal Town who travelled to take part in the event. We would especially like to thank Darren McGuigan from the Ulster Rugby Branch for his assistance and support on the day, it was greatly appreciated.
