Drimarone Development ran their annual open darts tournament for the fourth year on Sunday and it again proved a major success.
Drawing players from all over the SouthWest region this competition has grown in popularity to become a firm fixture for throwers.
Organiser Frankie Greene said: “We are amazed once again at the level of competition and the numbers taking part. In addition we have a full bar and food available which draws a lot of specatators every year,” he said.
In the competition the Greene Plumbing Services Shield was won on the day by Martin Johnston, beating Mark Lyons in a thrilling final that went down to the last leg.
In the main event, Declan Quinn of Ardara beat Joe Shovlin of Bruckless to claim the O’Neill’s Bar Perpetual Cup in a hard fought competition.
In accepting the trophy Quinn said that it was great to see so many young people competing on the day. The organisers have indicated that they may well introduce an youth competition next year.
