In 2010, Nemo Special Olympics SC was formed in Ballyshannon and has continued with success to date.

In November 2011, three Nemo SC athletes competed in the Special Olympics Area Games in Omagh. Receiving gold medals Eoin Rooney, Marie McGloin and Bernard Brady were then through to the Regional Games in Lisburn in May 2013.

June 2014 will see Special Olympics Ireland in Limerick (year 3 of Special Olympics cycle) - Eoin Rooney will represent his local Nemo SO Swim Club on Team Ulster in Special Olympics Ireland.

This is a massive acheivement for Eoin who is affiliated with and trains with Marlins SC and coached by Mum - Sinead Donagher and Grace Meade (Marlins SC Coach). Sinead has recently been offered a position on Special Olympics Team Ulster Coaching Team which Sinead is delighted to accept the coaching position and feels it is a great honour to represent Ulster with her son as well as all the other athletes.

As an athlete with Team Ulster, Eoin will now have to travel to County Antrim every 3 weeks to train with his Team as well as continued training with Nemo and Marlins SC.
