The Co. AGM was held in the Station House Hotel, Letterkenny on Tuesday night of last week and was well attended.
The Chairman Manus O’Donnell thanked the outgoing committee for their hard work this year and that a record number of children throughout the county took part in the large number of sporting and cultural activities.
The county hosted the Ulster Finals in Letterkenny for the second year and they were very successful.
He thanked the huge number of volunteers who assisted and all the sporting groups who made their facilities available.
The committee expressed their appreciation of receiving funding for the event from Letterkenny Town Council. Main sponsors Donegal Creameries were also thanked for their continued support. They have been involved in the games for almost 30 years.
The support from a number of Co. Cllrs was also appreciated.
National Director Bernie Brennan said it was impressive to see so many Donegal Officials assisting at the National Finals this year and encouraged more adults to get involved.
National President Gerry Davenport stated that a number of changes to some of events were being considered by the National Executive and that the finals will be over two weekends in August this year and that the May date will no longer exist.
All areas are urged to hold their AGM and affiliate for the coming year, areas seeking information on joining the Community Games may contact the Co. Secretary. or any committee member.
The National Area Awards function will take place this Saturday in Derry, Donegal members who will be honoured are; Best Area-Letterkenny East; Adult Volunteer- Catherine Boyce, Milford; Youth Volunteer-Patrick Mc Conigley, Milford.
Officers elected for the coming year are; President-Marie Gibson; chairmanManus O’Donnell; Vice-Chairman, Bernie O’Callaghan; Secretary-Mary O’Donnell; Assist. Seretary.-May Logue; Treasurer -Kathleen Hagan; Assist. Treasurer-Bernie Brennan; PRO - Michael Crossan; Child Protection Officer -Bernie O’Callaghan; Youth Officers - Aine Bradley and Sinead Hagan.
