Over the past week the Irish U-20 rugby team have been in action in Italy in the World Rugby Under-20 Championship, defeating Argentina and Scotland before losing out to New Zealand in the group stages.

Conan O’Donnell from Sligo, who father Cathal is from Gaoth Dobhair, is part of the Irish panel and has played a part in all three games.

O’Donnell plays his rugby with Sligo Rugby Club and University College, Galway where he is studying. He is also attached to the Connacht Development squad.

Unfortunately the defeat to New Zealand robbed them of a semi-final spot. They now compete for the 5th to 8th placings. They take on Wales this evening (Monday) in Stadio Luigi Zaffanella in Viadana (kick-off 8.30pm). The game is live on TG4.
