Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) blue belt Mairead Coyle from Ramelton took a silver medal in her division of the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) London Open held in Crystal Palace.

She was joined at the event by team mates Paul Gallagher and Pierce Walsh who also competed.

Meanwhile, almost 5,000 miles away in the United Stated club member John Brown, a blue belt from Derry, secured a silver medal in the IBJJF Miami Open. Donegal Town’s Bryan Gorman also took part in the Miami event.

The week prior to the international events club head coach, brown belt Brian “Barney” Coyle competed successfully in a scheduled “super fight” against a Dublin opponent in the “Celtic Gladiator Super 16” event. He came away with a win after forcing his opponent to submit in the 8th minute of their planned ten minute bout.
