A 10k event to provide an opportunity to those who wish to run/walk in memory of those who have passed away or indeed are presently suffering will be held this Sunday November 16th.
November historically and traditionally is a period which we in Ireland indeed internationally have set aside to remember loved ones that are sadly no longer with us. This event proved a most heart warming positive happening last year at this time and there have been numerous requests to repeat same.
The thinking is clearly an attempt to remember to do something meaningful to raise funds for a relevant charity of ones choice if you so wish. Registration is 10 euro each or 30 euro for a family of 4. The venue and race /walk /jog route is from the Finn Valley Centre, Stranorlar start time 11 am with pre registration to email@example.com
The course which is fast and flat takes in the scenic surrounds of Drumboe Forest returning to Ballybofey via Glenfin Road to finish on the Valley track. In addition to the money raised for charity which is an individual/ family decision the registration fee goes towards underage athletics to support same and purchase sportshall equipmen. Additionally a draw will be made on the day to decide a preferred group for a donation from the run funds. In a way its a link with the past and supporting the future a novel social event. Refreshments of course afterwards.
Entries are coming in strongly with pre reg closing Thursday 4pm after that its a simple matter of turning up on the day before 10-30 to check in. It’s expected something in the region of 500 will turn out.
An added aspect this year will be the Wall of Remembrance on which those participating are invited to write the name of the person/persons for whom they are taking part. As per last year participants are invited to bring along balloons which will be released at a suitable time at the event start which is some 200m from the Sports Centre.
