The Summer Showjumping League kicked off at Deane’s Equestrian Centre last Sunday and a good crowd turned up to compete.

The starter stakes got the show off to a flying start with many of the little riders competing in their first showjumping competition. Rebecca McClafferty riding Yankee was the first in and the first to go clear. She was followed by Ally McClay riding Little Charlie who had some faults at the start but finished strong with her second round clear.

The 50cm class Amy Gardner on Robin take on the course and take home a clear round rosette. Kathie Boyle riding Uisce was also clear.

The 60cm class had only one clear round and that went to Deidre McGuinness riding Tango.

The 70cm Class saw Lauren Bradley on Jayzee start the class with a lovely clear round. Georgia Dilworth on Dylan alos from Irvinestown had a quick but clear round much to her delight. Stephanie Haiber on Super Mario after a sticky start flew around the course to pick up a clear round rosette. Charley Timony had a super round on her pony Sandy also going clear. Lucy Stewart on Dedo also added to her collection of clear round rosettes.

The 80cm Class saw Stephanie Haiber on Super Mario back in action again and another clear round rosette. Marie Molloy on Patch jumped a super round flying around the course with ease. Dara McLoone on Lady rode a lovely round while Cyndi Graham on Dougal had to work for her clear both picking up clear round rosettes. Maria Dohertry on Butters raced around the course and managed to go clear. Nuala O’Donnell on Lacey had to work very hard for her clear round rosette,

The 90cm Class had brother and sister Patrick and Aine Hunter competing against each other and both rode super clear rounds. Catherine Gallagher on Dawn made up for her earlier mistake and rode a lovely clear round. While new rider to Deane’s Equestrian Centre Dean McLaughlin on Widfire jumped everything but had to work hard to keep on track. Dara McLoone picked up her second clear round rosette for the day.

The 1m class had Marie Molloy back on her trusty stead Dewy and they jumped clear. They were joined by Patrick Hunter on Eurolady to record the only clear rounds in the class. There were no clear rounds in the 1.10m class.

The Summer League continues next week 5th of July with a break on the 12th for the local Donegal Town Showjumping and returns on the 19th and 26th of July. A break on the bank holiday 2nd of August jumping again on 9th August with the Final on 16th August. Riders must compete in 3 competitions to qualify for the Final.
