Bouncy Castles, Hollywood Stars, Dolphins and some great displays of rowing and some close races were all part of Teelin Regatta on Sunday 28th June.
The large crowd of spectators were treated to an acrobatic display by the dolphins who are regular visitors in the bay. The Regatta was opened by The Kilcar Pipe Band a tradition that stretches back to the very first regattas held in Teelin. Children were well catered for with Bouncy Castles, Face Painting and a host of other games.
Club Iomartha Theilinn, Loughros Point, Killybegs, Donegal Bay, CCF, Mountcharles, and Inver, participated across the eight different categories in the regatta. Also taking part in their first regatta was the newly formed Village Rowing Club from Mountcharles and the reformed Bruckless Club who were one of the big guns of the eighties and early ninties.
Killybegs Rowing Club came out on top in four of the categories, U18 Boys, U18 Girls, U21 Girls and in the Ladies event. Inver took the U21 Boys title, while CCF came out on top in the U16 Boys and Donegal Bay claimed the mixed crown. Loughros Point produced a fine row to come out on top in the Senior Mens Race.
The hosting of this event is a great example of commuinity spirit and co-operation, the committee of Club Iomartha Theilinn wish to thank everyone collectively, (as there were so many who helped, one might forget someone if we start to thank invidually. Everyone’s contrubition was important to the sucess of the event.) who helped to organise the regatta and establish it as a great sporting, social and family day. Go raibh maith agaibh go léir.
